RECENT RELEASES AND ICONIC PRINTS
23rd Jan - 26th April
Original limited edition silk screen prints with collage elements, glazes, glitter and embossing by leading artists including Sir Peter Blake, Paul Huxley, Sandra Blow and Bruce McLean.
The Reclaimed Icons are a series of archival inkjet glitter prints with silkscreen glazes depicting historically iconic images, once seen in large volumes on a daily basis, reworked and revitalised into striking works of art. Using vibrant inks and metallic glitters, Blake has re-injected a burst of energy and life into these icons, re-awakening their almost forgotten relevance.
Acknowledged globally for his large scale bold and dynamic paintings, Huxley’s abstract work explores implied perspectives, combining stretched and distorted ellipses and shapes with flat blocks of colour and linear patterns to create dynamic illusions. He invites the viewer to unpick the paintings and consider why such elements have been considerately placed together.
Canvas on Chrome signed limited edition silkscreen print with collaged elements by late great abstract artist Sandra Blow RA. Blow's abstract composition creates a peaceful and uplifting feeling in the viewer, with her use of collage giving the artwork a very textural and tactile surface.
McLean's fascination with flora and fauna is inspired by his wife's gardens in London and Menorca and has long been a central theme in his prints and paintings. Drawing particular inspiration from the dark shadows and flickering light created as the sun moves around, these artworks are directly related to paintings originally created 10 years ago which developed into the 'Son Caragol' series. Through mark making and layering motifs, McLean builds up depth and injects a bold and bright palette to recreate this lush, flickering environment.
